Abdul Halim Abdul Hamid brings over 40 years of cross-sector leadership across the satellite communications and oil & gas industries, with deep expertise in commercial strategy, corporate planning, and large-scale program execution.
He played a foundational role in Malaysia’s first commercial communications satellites, MEASAT-1 and MEASAT-2, and was instrumental in shaping MEASAT’s early commercial and operational strategy. During his tenure as Vice President – Commercial Operations at MEASAT, Halim led strategic initiatives including collaboration with ISRO to explore microsatellite development for Malaysian government remote sensing applications, and engagements with PT Telkom Indonesia to expand regional satcom partnerships.
After MEASAT, Halim founded Baycom, a satellite services company, where he served as Executive Chairman. Leveraging his oil & gas industry experience, he secured and delivered a private satellite network for ExxonMobil’s ~800 retail fuel stations, translating satellite connectivity into mission-critical enterprise solutions.
He holds an MSc in Physics from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale (USA) and has authored multiple technical research publications in Applied Physics.
